Bulk Automatic Nylon Zipper Production Line
This equipment integrates tape feeding, tooth molding, chain assembly, and winding into a continuous automated process for manufacturing nylon zippers at high volume.
Core Process Flow
Nylon monofilament is extruded into zipper tape, cut to width, and conveyed to the molding station where thermoplastic teeth are injected onto the tape edges.
The molded tape then passes through a coupling unit that interlocks left and right chains, forming a continuous zipper strand.
Finally, the strand is cut to length, slider attached, and wound onto spools or packaged in boxes.
Typical Technical Specifications
| Parameter | Typical Range |
|---|---|
| Production speed (tape) | 1500‑2500 m/h per line |
| Zipper tape width | 5 mm – 30 mm (adjustable) |
| Tooth pitch | 3 mm – 5 mm (standard nylon coil) |
| Installed power | 12‑18 kW (depending on number of heads) |
| Control system | PLC with HMI, recipe management for tape width and tooth geometry |
| Dimensions (L×W×H) | ≈ 4.2 m × 1.6 m × 2.0 m (modular) |
Key Engineering Characteristics
The line uses synchronized servo drives for tape feeding and tooth injection, maintaining tension variation below ±0.2 N across the width.
Molding cavities are heated to 210‑230 °C with ±1 °C stability, ensuring consistent tooth geometry and reducing flash.
A vision inspection station monitors tooth pitch and tape edge alignment, rejecting out‑of‑spec sections at a rate of less than 0.05 %.
Applications in Industry
Automotive interior trim requires zippers with high fatigue resistance; the line’s tight tooth pitch tolerance supports repeated flexing cycles.
Outdoor gear manufacturers benefit from the ability to produce water‑resistant nylon tape with UV‑stabilized additives, which can be fed directly into the extruder.

Medical device producers rely on the clean‑room compatible design, where stainless‑steel contact surfaces and easy‑change tooling minimize particulate generation.
Customization Options
- Number of molding heads (4‑12) to scale output
- Tape width changeover system (quick‑release jaws)
- Alternative tooth materials (polyester, POM) via barrel swap
- Slider attachment module (pre‑crimped or ultrasonic)
- Packaging integration (spool winder, cartoner, palletizer)
Quality Control Philosophy
Each production batch undergoes in‑line dimensional sampling; data are logged to the manufacturing execution system for traceability.
Periodic tensile testing of zipper chains verifies that peel strength exceeds 12 N/cm for standard nylon coil, meeting typical OEM specifications.
Visual inspection stations use LED backlighting to detect surface defects such as flash, melt‑flow lines, or discoloration.
Typical Values Table (Customizable)
| Item | Value / Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Tape thickness | 0.20‑0.35 mm | Depends on nylon grade and draw ratio |
| Tooth height | 0.40‑0.55 mm | Measured from tape base to tip |
| Power consumption per meter | 5‑8 Wh/m | Includes heating and drives |
| Noise level (operating) | ≤78 dB(A) | Measured at 1 m distance |
